How We Wore It // Sweater Weather

Fall is HERE, y'all. The trees are blowing their leaves off, the colors have officially changed, and the weather is starting to turn brisk. I love all that encompasses Fall in Utah--the mountains, the gorgeous hikes I get to go on, and the change of colors. I am excited to participate in this month's How We Wore It. This month entails sweaters!!!

Even though it is just starting to get cold here, I am excited to put on sweaters, boots and fall clothes. I took the original photo from Diary of a Debutante and made it a little more dressy. I grabbed my favorite classic black sweater. It is a staple item and I wear it all of the time during the cold months! I styled my sweater with the most comfortable midi skirt ever. Huzzah!

So excited!

How We Wore It: Summer Workout!

Aloha! Still in Maui. I know, it's okay to be jealous. :)
July has already been better than June (and I am grateful for that!).

Anytime I get discouraged, I try to look at this picture. The left was last week. The right was back in February. I have noticed a difference in my face, even if it's just a little bit!

I love this blog collaboration. I love being able to find clothes from my wardrobe making it work! I love seeing what other bloggers find. I love taking the original photo and working it to my advantage. This month is WORKOUT CLOTHES. I put this in all caps because I looooove workout clothes. I would wear them all day everyday if I could (I mean, I do). They are so comfy and stretchy.

My health plan is still going. Not to the same extent that it was back in October, but I am still working on it. I find that I am enjoying working out: whether that's a walk along the beach here in Maui, swimming in the pools, hiking in the mountains in Utah, lifting weight and doing plyometrics at the gym...I find that it something I do because it makes me FEEL better. I know I am not the size I used to be. And that's okay. Not because I am okay with being this size, but because I have accepted that thats where my body is at right now. Since being diagnosed with PCOS, hypothyroidism, anemia and hypoglycemia (I know, right? What else can I have?!), I have struggled with my body and trying to take care of it. I think it is imperative to love our bodies NO MATTER what phase it is in: whether you've lost a ton of weight, gained a ton of weight, just had a baby, pregnant...it's important to love our bodies and take care of it by being active. I am not a marathon runner. Hell, I can barely run a mile and a half right now. I HATE running. I hated it in high school lacrosse and I hate it now. So I have found other ways to do cardio and to enjoy what I am doing. Do something that you love. So then exercise doesn't become a chore, but rather something that your brain and body crave. I look at these pictures and I hate them. I hate that I hate them. Not because I hate myself, but because I am not where I want to be. I am working though and I am loving the process. And I think that's what is important.
Any who, rant over. Here are some fashion pics.

This background is where it's at. I wish I had this background always to take my pictures! Barefoot because I hate putting shoes on here in sticky Maui.

Literally, all of my workout clothes are from Old Navy or Nike. Boom.

How We Wore It // Summer Skirt

Spring in Utah means sunshine and rain and a whole lot of temperamental weather happenings (Just watch, it will snow at least once more. It always does! Oh, temperamental, Utah!). My wardrobe feels like it is all over the place during Spring. One minute I am still wearing sweaters and the next I am in a sundress. Its okay, it's good to mix things up (I guess!).

For this fashion collaboration this month, we take a photo and put our own "twist" on it. Here is this month's photo from Elevate Everyday

Flowers! Skirts! Heels! It is funny because I am not a super feminine person. I spend 90% of my time in workout clothes. But I love to dress girly sometimes. I love flowers and polka dots and dresses and all things like that. I loved the idea of the skirt with the heels. I took this idea and ran with it. I added a light scarf because it is not QUITE summer yet!

Did you see in my post on Monday that I have lost five inches and 20 lbs?! Yay!!!

How We Wore It // Brights in the Workplace

In case you haven't gotten a hold of the idea of this fashion collaboration, here is how it works: We take an original photo and try to find an outfit in our closet based on colors, textures, style, etc. I instantly saw this photo and thought: I have bright, spring colors already! Yay! I wear this outfit to work (teaching) at least once a month because it is 1) comfy 2) colorful and happy and 3) It's the only outfit that I don't hate that isn't a dress (I love dresses ha!).

Yes, my hair is in a bun because this is how my long hair looks by lunch time....

Here's the original photo from "Chic Street Style

Also, I am aware that I look like I'm poppin' a squat here. It's fine.

How We Wore It // Spring!!!!!!!

It's March 2nd.
I don't know about you, but when I see that date, I instantly think, "SPRING TIME!!!!!" Yes, with that amount of enthusiasm as well. Although there is still some snow on the mountains and I know that it will snow at least once more in March here in Utah (it will probably snow once in April as well!), I am feeling serious Spring time action. And I am not complaining about it one bit. I need some sunshine and warmth.

For this month's How We Wore It (I've done enough of these, that I hope y'all know how it works. If you're new...I'm sure you can figure it out. I'm so kind), this is the original outfit:

When I saw this outfit, my first thought was: DRESS. YES. I have a problem. I literally wear dresses three of four times a week. In fact, I'm sure people are sick of seeing my dresses. In the Fall and Winter, I throw some leggings under them with boots. In the Spring and Summer, I wear them with my birks or saltwater sandals (am I a fashionista or WHAT?) So this outfit is close to home. For me, when I looked at this picture, I got the "spring vibe" with a cute dress. So I pulled out my flowered dress and flats. I put on my sunglasses (love them) and stood awkwardly in front of a photo. Ugh. I still hate having my photo taken...especially full body. It is still chilly and I am around children all day (#teacherlife) so I like to throw leggings on under, mostly for functionality.

Boom.

How We Wore It // The Holidays!

CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE.
And I have been the worst blogger because of it.
I relate December during the school year to how Jim Gaffigan explains what having a fifth child is like: "Just imagine you are drowning, and then someone hands you a baby." That's how I feel. With 23 students. Who are 12 years old. It's a little chaotic and a little crazy, so blogging has been on the back burner. Plus, I sort of have this thing called FOMO (fear of missing out) and I want to do ALL OF THE CHRISTMAS THINGS AND HOLIDAY TRADITIONS. So, I sort of forget to, like, ya know, write. It happens. Priorities.

Well, I had T Money be my Instagram Husband and take these pictures last minute last night with my iPhone because I'm a classy blogger like that. (Have you seen that video? So freaking hilarious. Poor Tanner.)
But, LOOK AT MY CUTE BRICK HOUSE AND ALL THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS. I have a Christmas Decor obsession. And I am not going to do one thing about it, besides keep getting gorgeous gold decorations. No wonder I'm poor. (Or maybe it's because I'm a teacher and my husband is in school?).

Anyway, I styled this outfit a little bit differently than the above picture. I mostly did this because I don't own a plaid scarf like she does (how cute is it though?! I want it!) and I have worn nine million plaid shirts in these outfit posts. So I took the accent of red with the booties and leggings and went with it.
Fashion bloggers, holla atcha girl.

Also, I really love having my whole body in front of the camera. That's my favorite. Not. But, anyway, my health plan update: I feel great. Haven't lost any more weight but I am down 12 pounds from beginning of October and three inches. I mostly haven't had any more progress over the last week and a half because I have eaten like CRAP. So there's that. TIME TO GET BACK ON THE BALL.
Okay, now, the gorgeous photos. Enjoy?

HOW WE WORE IT // Fall Transition

I am so excited to be involved in yet another How We Wore It with my friend Brooke (go say hi and you can sign up for next month's How We Wore It!).

I am so grateful for all of the support that I have received from all of you regarding my Health Plan. I have already lost five pounds (yay! But it's not just about weight for me). With that being said, I am still not comfortable in front of a camera, but I am working on it!

Here's the third grade version of how this thing works: We take a picture from a fashion blog and make our own twist to it.
Here is the original photo:

I don't have a peplum-like, top (WHAT? HOW DO I LIVE IN THE BLOGGING WORLD, RIGHT?). But I do have lots of peplum-like dresses. I love dresses more than jeans anyway, so I opted for a dress this go-round. It has the same flow and material as the shirt above.
Also, I am in front of my beautiful first home. How adorable is that brick, am I right? I am also making the look into more of a "Fall transition" because, even though is 80 degrees here, it is basically October,  and Fall is here, dang it. I demand it. So I am wearing a cranberry color, which fits the season more to me. I am wearing this dress for my brother's wedding in a few weeks, so how perfect, right? :)

This dress from here.
