Just Call Me HomeMaker.

I am a clean freak. Granted, the past few weeks I have not been (I seriously don't know what's happening!) but normally it is important to me to have a clean home. I went on a little cleaning frenzy last week (and what do you know? The house is dirty again. Ugh, I don't even want to think about what it's going to look when I have kids! Anxiety!).
Also, I love the smell of cleaning supplies. When I am shopping at the grocery store, I walk down the cleaning supply aisle to get a whiff of that lovely smell. I'm a freak. I know.
Anywho, I looked in my cleaning bin and was in desperate need to clean the hard water stains in our toilet (not from us--I'm assuming previous owners!) and our showers.
So. I pulled out my handy dandy cleaning supplies, turned on my creative thinking cap, and mixed these lovely ingredients together to make a clean toilet, shower, and bathroom.
And, it worked! As for the toilet, it wasn't perfect. But it looks a lot better than it did before.
Am I a mormon Homemaker or WHAT? Hehe.

I am never one to follow directions (I'm a rebel, what can I say?) so after lots of experiments with measuring, I eventually just threw some of this and some of that in there to see what worked. Obviously, these are not perfect measurements. But you get the point.

1// Get a large measuring cup.
2// Put in 1/2 cup of water (lukewarm)
3// 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
4// 3 teaspoons of Ajax.
5// 1/2 cup of Comet.
6// 1 teaspoon of baking soda.
7// 3/4 cup of Vinegar

Boom. Easy enough.

What I Feel Right Now.

At this time in my life I feel ______ because…

HAPPY: I feel happy right now because I can sense the warm sunshine starting to burst out in the open!!!! And I am happy that it's no longer winter (minus these past few days!). Haha.

ANGRY: I’m angry at a lot of people who I love in my life. I have been told things in the past few months by family members that are incredibly hurtful, patronizing, controlling and so far from the truth. I feel angry that they think they know me better than I know myself.

LOVED: I feel loved because I have a husband who has been patient and kind to me in spite of a rough few days; who lifts me up and makes me feel good about myself when I am at an all time low physically, mentally, and spiritually.

APPRECIATIVE: I feel very appreciative for the job I have. I love my coworkers and my job as a teacher. I am grateful that I am able to teach, inspire and love those 6th graders, even on the rough days. I am grateful I have a job in this crazy economy we live in, even if it is crap pay ;)

PEACEFUL: I feel at peace because I know that all these negative feelings will eventually fade away; that the Lord knows me and my stupid mistakes and my strong emotions. He is my biggest cheerleader. and is constantly rooting for me.

JEALOUS: I am jealous of everyone's fun travels! I have friends and family who are going on cruises, going to Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Europe and I don't even know if I am going anywhere for Spring Break! I am jealous that people are traveling all around the world--which is my heart's desire. I neeeed to get out! Right now!

"I just have a lot of feelings…"
"She doesn't even go here!"
Name that movie.

March Madness…Madness!

It took me two hours to make my bracket. And now, this is what it looks like:

image via Instagram

All marked up, scratched out and loved on.
But, alas, those two hours were SO NOT WORTH IT. Why do I go through this every year? We always know that there are countless upsets?!
My bracket, like everyone else's has been destroyed.
And as much as it stinks to watch the bracket disintegrate, it so fun for me to watch the underdogs win.
I love talking March Madness with all the male coworkers at my school (yes, all four of them..). I feel justified in knowing what I'm talking about because I'm an Ainge. (Hey, I do know what I'm talking about! Don't roll your eyes!)

Anyway. I may have made my students make a bracket. And we may have watched part of the BYU/Oregon game in my room. I'm broadening their horizons, okay? It's important for them to know these things. Don't worry. I connected it to ratios.

Anywho. I love March Madness.
I would get into all the "basketball talk" and my thoughts on how there aren't really underdogs anymore and blah blah blah, but I won't.
Go Michigan State? (Let's be honest…there could be like 8 teams that could win. Hence the no underdogs anymore!)

K. Bye.

Life in a 6th Grade Classroom: Positive Self Talk.

Last week, I wrote a post about 10 Things I Like About Myself.
It was, actually, quite inspiring for me. I had to sit down and think about the things that I truly do like about myself. Quite often, I can pinpoint all of the negative aspects of myself. I needed to remember the positive things about myself for once. And it was inspiring.

In my classroom, I have noticed this negative self talk happening with my students.
If they don't understand something, they instantly say out loud, "Gosh, I'm so stupid." Or, I can tell in their eyes and their body language that they don't believe in themselves. They instantly shut down if they don't get it right away.
If someone makes one comment to them about their looks or behavior, they instantly shut down.

I was kind of sick and tired of their negative behavior this past week. I wanted them to realize that they are incredibly capable, regardless what other kids tell them or what their brains tell them. I stood in front of them and told them my personal experience with negative self talk as a 6th and 7th grader. I told them some of my thoughts and one girl said, "That's ridiculous! You're sooooo smart!" And my instant reaction was, "Exactly! Sometimes how we see ourselves is not exactly how it is!"

So, here's what I did for a lesson on positive self talk:

1. I connected. I told them my personal experience with negative self talk as a 6th grader. And I told them my personal experience with negative self talk now. I explained that when you get into that pattern, sometimes it won't go away, even into adulthood.

2. I had them write at least five things that they liked about themselves. They could color, draw, write, words, phrases, symbols, or adjectives regarding their positive aspects. My students completely ate it up. I allowed them the freedom to do  the paper however they wanted.

My favorite part is that she changed is the correct "you're" and grammar obsession.
Funny enough, she's my brain type ;)

It was so fun to see, hear, and read what they wrote. I watched their process of this project. Some sat there for a good 15 minutes unable to write. It showed me who struggled with their confidence. It was incredibly beneficial for me and for my students!
Here's to positive self talk, people!

Top 5 Reasons Why I'm Happy This Season of the Bachelor is OVER.

After the build up of the following events:
Reading Abbey's post on her reasons for why Juan Pablo is the worst bachelor ever last week.
The numerous hours of watching this past season of the Bachelor and tweeting incessantly over my hatred for the season and Juan Pablo.
And after last night's finale…

I have come to the conclusion that I could not be any happier that this season of The Bachelor is over. I honestly do not know why I continued to watch this season. I couldn't stand JP from Episode 2. But, alas, I am obsessed with this show so I continued watching.

And here are 5, yes only 5 (I could go on forever) of the reasons why I am so incredibly elated for this season to be over.

1. I don't have to hear Juan Pablo's annoying accent.

What is his accent, even? It's like a mixture of Italian, Venezulan, English and what I like to call "douche bag."
I am so happy I never have to see him try to talk his way out of every situation and question. Which, oddly enough, he sucked at initially, because he doesn't know how to say his English words in the first place. Every time he came on the screen, I wanted to just fast forward. I can not take his voice and accent at all. No more "Ay yi yi" or "assssept" or "eeees okay."

2. I don't have to see Clare's fake face any longer.

Or her entire face that has had so much work done.
Oh those lips….I CAN'T STAND HOW SHE MAKES THAT FACE WITH HER LIPS.
Okay, okay, I will give the girl props for sticking up for herself at the end. I applaud her for finally realizing that JP is an idiot. But, I still cannot handle her. Even in her interview with Chris Harrison in the after final rose, she tried to portray this "I'm okay" facade. When, we all know, by the fact that she didn't even want to see JP or talk to him, that she wasn't fully over it; that. She tries to portray herself  It bugs me that she always put on a "fake face"….even when she was genuinely hurt. Plus, she's still annoying. The only time she was real was when she was chewing out JP at the end. And that was partly because she was embarrassed.

3. I don't have to see Juan Pablo incessantly touching the girls and sticking his tongue down their throats.

Homeboy is the most disgusting kisser in the world.
That's all.
The whole season I kept saying, "Seriously? Just don't touch her for like 2 minutes. Just see if you can do it."

4. I don't have to listen to the most shallow, self-absorbed behavior on the planet.

I honestly believe he only came on the show to promote himself and his money.
The first, and a lot of times, the ONLY thing he talked about with the women were their looks. Time after time. How many women left because of his derogatory, unromantic, self-absorbed and sexual comments that he made?

5. His douche bag-ness.

Just…all of it.
His voice.
His lack of sincerity.
His shallow behavior.
His lack of seriousness and commitment.
His chauvinistic, condescending behavior.
His disgusting PDA.
His manipulation. (Side note: We all know him and Nikki are in the most unhealthy relationship in the world. Holy crap. He has brainwashed that woman.)
His inability to answer a question.  (Seriously…he couldn't just answer a question to save his life. And every time, he would bring it back to him being a "good guy"--in every circumstance).
And we can't forget the fact that he was completely unable to have a serious conversation. And I don't think the language barrier was the problem.

Okay, is it time for Andi yet?
Holla.

POFW //Week 8//: Wide Open Spaces.

POFW stands for Photo of the Week…fyi.
Tanner's extended family all lives in Oakley, Utah. Oakley is a small country town about 10 minutes east of Park City. It is actually where a lot of celebrities live! His family has about 100 acres and it is absolute stunning. When T and I were dating, he would continuously tell me about his love for the farm. And since we have been married, I can now see why. The air is so fresh and clean; the scene is beautiful. And a beautiful spring, sunny day like today, it feels like summer up there! We spend more time up there in the summer--we have already been up there twice this week. So this is definitely a big part of our week. I mean, look at this photo, from my phone. Pretty awesome.

10 Things That I Like About Myself.

When Christy started this link up, I thought to myself, "This is something that I need to do. For me."
See, here's the thing. I have always been a confident person. I have always known who I am and what I want. I am the type of person where the phrase "what you see is what you get" kind of girl.
But, through lots of analyzation of myself through writing, reading, researching, therapy, and thinking time, I have realized that I am not very good at validating myself. Whether this is something that was never shown through my childhood and family or my own natural self, it is something that I need work on. I am very good at validating others, but I struggle to validate myself. I am very hard on myself and tend to look at the negative.
I am trying my best to change this. I am trying to change my self talk and reminding myself that I don't have to be perfect. That I am good enough, just the way I am; that I do not need anyone or anything to fulfill that need.
I think it is incredibly healthy to write down the things that you like about yourself. In fact, I am doing this with my students tomorrow. I am having them do a project regarding their self confidence and respect for themselves. I am doing this because I have seen my 6th graders respect for me, as the teacher, decrease. And I can't help but notice that a part of it has to do with their lack of love and validation for themselves.
It's hard to be kind to other people when you are not kind to yourself.
So, I'm going to be kind to myself right now. Mostly because it's been a really difficult day and I wanted to leave at lunchtime because my students just about did me in today.

10 Things That I Like About Myself.

1. I like my hair.

I have never died my hair, my color is au natural. And I know that people pay big money to have my hair color; to have their hair have the highlights that I was born with. It is the perfect thickness-not too thick or thin. I have a lot of it. And it grows like a weed. I cut 13 inches in high school and a year and a half later, it was almost all the way grown back.  It curls well, it straightens easy. In fact, I hardly ever brush my hair. And although it could look much better, it's a miracle that I can get away with it. I am grateful for my hair.
//Tierra (that's our celebrity name)//

2. I like that I am a hard worker.

I was basically done with college when I was 21 and had my own classroom. When I set my mind to something, I will do anything to get it done. I am responsible, organized and hard working. In college and in my current career as a teacher. I give it my all. I like that I am educated and intelligent.
//With my dad at graduation.//

3. I like that I am Knowledgeable and Love Basketball.

Being raised an Ainge, my love for basketball was sort of engrained. I am grateful that I am knowledgable about basketball. I am grateful that I can watch the sport and know what I am talking about it (maybe more than some men haha!). I love the sport so much and I love that I can keep up at sporting events.
//At the BYU basketball game in college, back in the Jimmer days. This sign got me on interviews and ESPN. HOLLA.//

4. I like my career as a school teacher.

//This was when I lived in Africa, but it is related because this was the first time I ever taught a child to read. My love for children and teaching was reiterated here. //
I love my career as a teacher. I think I am good at it. I would do anything and everything for my students. And it is something that I am proud of. I love that I am changing lives every day.

 5. I like my sense of humor.

Guys. I'm really funny. It's a blessing and a curse, really.
//My brother thinks I'm really funny too//

 6. I like that I am deep, introspective and sensitive.

I used to get so frustrated with the fact that I feel things so deeply. But I have learned that this is a blessing more so than a curse in my life. I am able to feel extreme REAL empathy for others because of it. I am able to express myself in writing because of it. It drives my passion and motivation.
//This was me daydreaming in San Francisco//

 7. I like my fair skin.

Well, I have reached a new point, people. I have tried everything, for years to be tan. But, alas, I am not. I am as white as they get. But you know what? I am owning it. Because I have good skin. And I am grateful that I don't have to wear makeup. And I don't look like a complete villain.
//With my friend, Caleb. Bright red lipstick, baby! So T Swift//

8. I'm extremely loyal.

I got my peoples' back. Always. I try to be the friend that I want to have.
//With one of my bridesmaids and friends, Julia, feeding me…at my wedding… duhz…talk about loyalty//

9. I like that I am fun!

I love to play. I love to have fun! I am up for most things, especially if it's sunny outside. I like to do most things and be spontaneous.
//hiking in Zions with T money//

10. I like that I am always willing to laugh.

I am always willing to laugh at myself, at a situation, with my friends, family and students. I don't take life too seriously (when I'm not in a down time!). It helps the anxiety, ya know? Ha.
//My friend photographing my UT Reception was telling me not to make funny faces while talking to people. This was me talking back and trying to make a decent face. It didn't work, Lizzy//

And that's a wrap.
Maybe I ain't that bad.

What do you like about yourself?
What's your favorite thing about yourself?

I Want to Talk About the Oscars {Version 3.0}

I Want to Talk About the Oscars {Version 2.0}
I Want to Talk About the Oscars {Original Version}
Sidenote: This kind of shows how long I have been blogging for. Kind of interesting, eh? On that note, I wasn't even aware that there was some sort of blogging world and that you could make money off of a blog until like…a year ago. Dur Dur Dur.

Well, it happened.
Obviously.
I watched the Oscars. And did about 90 million tweets. No, really. I think I lost followers because of that night. Its whatevs.
And, well, as the title blatantly explains, I want to have a little one sided conversation with you about them in a brief overview; bulleted list style. Because lists are my FAVORITE. (OCD anyone?)

FIRST, naturally, lets talk fashion. Because I am a fashionista (obviously) and I think it's important that the rest of the world knows my opinion on celebrity's fashion. Also because I know Sandra Bullock is going to show up at my door and thank me for complimenting her dress and her complete awesomeness and we will be best friends and we will giggle like 6th graders.

Favorite Dresses:

You KNOW I am a sucker for lace. And Julia Roberts. So beautiful.

See? She's perfect.

Bette Midler sounded awesome, looked like a total babe (what the skinny!). I don't know if I necessarily love that dress on HER, but I just love the dress in general. Mostly because I know I could never pull it off.

No caption necessary.

Minus the fact that she has zero boobs, I love the elegance of this. And the color.

Dress FAILS:
Two words: Lady Gaga. Why is she even there? Hey, at least it's better than normal.

I am just not feeling it. Not really sure why.

….yea….

Favorite MOMENTS:
*I honestly loved most of the dresses this year. Seriously, there were very few that I was said the words, "ew" too. Which, if you know me, this is a huge advance. Again, I am a fashionista, so my taste is all that matters. So, yea.
*Ellen. Just all of it. Her jokes. Her presence. Her PERFECTNESS.
*pizza. Yea. Ellen ordered pizza and the stars ate it. Most importantly is the fact that MERYL STREEP TOOK TWO. She's amazing.
*A lot of selflies. And the best celebrity selfie everrrr.
*Jared Leto's eyes.
*Pink ROCKING Over the Rainbow, despite the oddness. And her sparkly, red fun dress!
*Matthew Mcconaughey's acceptance speech. Are you kidding? It almost gave me chills. Good for him! Still so sad Leo hasn't won, but I loved hottie mchottie (that's matthew ps) speech. Maybe it's that little smirk he always makes and his voice and his accent and how he says things and his perfectness. K I'll stop now. (perfectness excludes his orange-ness.)
*Meryl Streep. The entire time.
*Lupita's acceptance speech for best supporting actress. And her humbleness. Yes, please.
*Seeing Brad Pitt clean shaven again. Yummm.
*Seeing Zac Efron on stage and reminding me how hot he is. (see below though)
*Continuously saying "she's soooooo beautiful" to the following women: Sandra Bullock, Penelope Cruz, Charlize Theron, Kate Hudson, Emma Watson,
*Continuously saying, "he's sooooooo good looking" to the following men: Joseph Gordon Levitt, Brad Pitt, Chris Hemsworth, Zac Efron, Channing Tatum.
Sidenote: I love my husband and he's the hottest.
*Ellen calling out that the actors have all only been to 6 years of college total. hahaha.

Least Favorite Moments:
*Leo not winning.
*Cate Blanchett winning for Best Actress and giving the most boooooring speech ever.
*Whoopi Goldberg's dress
*Idina Menzel not singing "Let It Go" very well. At all. (Am I the only one who doesn't love that song in the first place?)
*Gravity winning everything. Seriously--was the movie really THAT good? I haven't seen it. I'm genuinely asking! It got old reeeeal quick.
*Seeing Zac Efron eff up his lines. Come on, boy! You just got out of rehab---let's not ruin this.
*Pharrell's Smokey the Bear Hat.

Most importantly, though.
Is this.

I literally have watched this 50 times in the past few days.
Tanner had to yell at me because my laugh was getting too "wheezy."
HILARIOUS, I TELL YA.

What were your least favorite parts of the Oscars?
Do you watch them?
What was your favorite dress? Your least favorite?

Link Up: It's Marriage Goal Time!

Tanner and I both possess Quality Time as one of our highest Love Languages.
Tanner used to work retail almost every night and I worked during the day so we hardly ever saw each other. This was a huge trial in the first few months as a married couple because in the beginning I thought because we were married, we would see each other more (I felt like I saw him more when we were dating those first few months!). It was really hard on both of us, especially me. I didn't realize how much I loved spending time with him until I never saw him!
Luckily, he has a new job now and I get to see my husband all of the time. I honestly can't even explain to you how much this has helped our marriage and my mood. I think I forgot how awesome he was there for a bit! Haha. We are both such individual people and we make sure that we spend time hanging out with people other than each other (that's something really important to both of us!), but a lot of times I forget that he really is my best friend. And no one knows me like he does. And I love spending time with him. Truly.

With that being said, because both of us work so hard, often times when we spend time together, it means a whole lot of laziness.
T and I love watching shows and movies together. Which, in my opinion, is awesome.
But, when I was talking to T about this post for our "marriage goal" for March, he came up with something that we need to work on.
And it is:
To spend our time together in a more productive way.

Now, this is not to say that we won't watch our netflix show together in the evening and just hanging out sometimes. Because I love doing that with him. But, what we want try to do better is to "broaden our horizons" if you will. To spend our leisure time together being a bit more productive. For example, do things like:

-Go for walks when the weather is nice.
-Budget/organize our bills.
-Clean our home together.
-Go to the temple.
-Pray, read scriptures together more often.
-Travel.
-Car rides.
-Go to a cafe and just talk for hours.
-Exercise together
-Be outside--do something fun!
-etc. etc.

You get the point.

We want to make sure to be productive, but still have a lot of fun together. We have gotten a lot better at this. When the weather is nice, it makes it a lot easier! But it is definitely something that we will work on this month.

Because, let's be honest, we are fun people ;)

What are your goals as a couple this month? I'm interested to know!!! Link up below!

//Photos of the Week// {Week 7}: Real Talk-- On Consistency and Other Funny Things.

(longest title ever).
One quality that I wish I possessed was consistency. I wish I could be more consistent with my moods, with my planning and organizing, with my energy level, etc. I wish that I could be organized most of the time, instead of some of the time. I wish I could budget most of the time instead of some of the time. I wish that I didn't fluctuate moods.

Alas, my point is, these posts, my "Photos of the Week" are usually supposed to come out on Thursday. It's Saturday. And, yea, well, I have skipped a few weeks already. I'm trying, people, okay?

On that note, When I am really tired, I get in either two moods.
The best way to describe these moods are:
1. Deliriously Ridiculous- where I laugh at everything and everything in my path. I get quite ridiculous--dancing around my house while in very little clothing, saying ridiculous things that I don't even remember half of the time. You get the point. I get giggly and weird. And quite funny, if I do say so myself.
2. Cranky Biotch.
With this mood, you do NOT want to get on my bad side. Let's just leave it there.

Luckily, today, I am "deliriously ridiculous". And, today, to involve myself with this mood, I went to my FUNNY board on Pinterest.

It's been a week of a lot of goofiness, so I thought I would share with you my "mood in pictures" with these memes or ecards via Pinterest (seriously..if you haven't done this, you need to. Especially on a bad day!) Some of these had me literally "laughing out loud." Enjoy :)

Ha. Ha. Hahahaha.

Some people need this.

marriage.

Every morning.

What I want to say to some of my student's parents...

Really, I think I need a medal for this.

I'm gonna send this shirt to my sisters. Hahaha.

This is what I am naming my first daughter. Spelled like that.

Hahahahaha.

Marriage….again...

I have never experience this as a teacher...

Yea, UTAH. COME ON.

Oh, JT. Hahahaha

You're Welcome.

Come follow me on Pinterest. I am addicted. :)

I tried to do a link up regarding my Photos of the Week, but, unfortunately, I realized that it's far too much work every week. People, I can barely post three times a week! Remember this whole consistency thing I struggle with? Yea, my blog is no exception. Don't judge me. Nevertheless, if you are dying for this to become a link up again…just holler. If I like you enough, I will bring it back. Otherwise, if you do a photo of the week post, just link it to my blog somewhere in the post and let me know so I can go read it :) Yea, that sounds like a good plan. Oh, how I wish I could do more for this blog. One day, people. One day. When you work 50+ hours every week and a husband to take care of (ha!), and bikram yoga and friends to socialize with and fun things to do…I barely have time to breathe. Remember, I'm an introvert, people!
