Papa.

Happy Father's Day 2012 to David "Papa" Ainge!

To the man:
who has a laugh that can move mountains
who is a wee bit overprotective over his youngest daughter
who is so incredibly in tune with the Spirit
who pretends to not care about sports, when in reality, he gets far too anxious about them
who is, literally, my biggest fan throughout life
who is the biggest supporter and cheerleader I know
who  loves his children and grandchildren more than anything in the world
who pretends to hate Simba, our cat, but secretly loves having a buddy
who looks scary and big, but has the kindest heart
who can, at times, get a little intense (it's okay, it gives you personality)
who is an incredible public speaker and extremely talented writer
(I like to think I inherited those characteristics)
who is very good with people. Mr. Charmer!
who, I'm pretty sure is African American.
(Seriously, how come I am so white?)
who is full of sympathy, empathy, concern, and kindness for others.

Thank you for your support, love, example, advice, and spirit throughout all these years, Dad.
I love you so much and am so grateful for you.
Your baby,
Sisi

Hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day! Celebrate with those whom you love!

Dear Me {6}:

Dear Me,
You spent the entire weekend with this guy.

Yep.
That's all you get, blog world.

Dear Me,
You officially need to wear a shirt that says, "I have a paper to write, but you want to do something fun anyways?"
You have so many papers and assignments to be doing, but you cannot focus.
Talk about a procrastinator, woman!
I'm definitely a "play before work" kind of person.
But don't worry, I always get my work done. And well. Pinky promise.

Dear Me,
Remember this.

You truly love being there for people. So, be there for them. It's a blessing that they are turning to you when they are struggling. It means they trust, love and respect you.
Love this quote.

Dear Me,
You are completely overwhelmed with where to start when it comes to decorating your classroom (in case you forgot). Get those creative juices flowing. But don't worry, you got this.

Dear Me,
Be grateful for your friends. They are wonderful. They get you and love you for all your random comments, idiosyncrasies, laughs, and stupid jokes.

Dear Me,
Look! Pinterest works!
A cool picture of my hair.
Channeling the inner Katniss in me.
How blogger-esque of me, huh?
LOOK OUT, WORLD.
And guess what?
An outfit post AND a vlog are coming soon.
Moment of silence.

Dear Me,
EXERCISE MORE. Holy crap.
That is all.

xoxo.

Alone.

Remember this post?

This helped:

"When I get lonely these days, I think: So BE lonely. Learn your way around loneliness. Make a map of it. Sit with it, for once in your life. Welcome to the human experience. But never again use another person's body or emotions as a scratching post for your own unfulfilled yearnings."

If you want to laugh and get something stuck in your head:

If you want to be amazed and have talented children:

If you want to feel the Spirit:

(this woman is all my all time hero)

If you want to pee your pants from excitement for these movies:

Hope y'all had a Happy Monday.
I'm a little exhausted from the past weekend.
It's fine.
Promise.
But this girl needs to write a lot of papers and do a lot of sleeping.
Over and out.

Social Media Brings Out the Best In Me...

These are the most recently tagged photos of me on Facebook.

My mom called me the other day and got (I swear she was being serious) mad at me for being so photogenic. I am here to prove to her that I do take bad pictures.

I know, it's a rough life for the beautiful picture-taking people in this world.
Can I get an Amen?
(insert sarcastic eye roll here)

Okay, so I had to show you a couple more instagram pictures (for documental purposes, okay? My blog. My rules.)

I know I haven't really posted anything deep or introspective lately.
I think it's because my brain is overrun with school work.
Love me anyway?
I have so many things I want to write. Just haven't put them down.
I just have been busy:

watching NBA Finals games
getting free massages from Candace (love you!)
going to the temple
taking long runs/walk in the beautiful sunshine
skyping. a lot.
homework. a lot.
Rough life, huh? ;)

Don't worry, folks, I am still a little intense.
Clearly.

P.S. GO CELTICS.
If they win tonight, this weekend and next weekend are going to be the best weekends of my life.
More on that later...

peeing my pants

I'm like 72% sure I have already posted this on my blog.
Ask me if I care.
Every single time I watch this video, I cannot hold it in.

Hilarious. Freaking hilarious.

Music Monday.

(+2 points for alliteration)

So. I talked about my road trip home in my last post. If you missed it...read HERE.
On this ever-so-perfect road trip I learned a couple of lessons.

1. I'm pretty sure John Mayer sings my life.

In Repair: John Mayer

Not just this song, but I swear, every single one of his songs.
The guy is a weirdo, but holy crap, that boy can write gooood music.

2. Tracy Chapman is PERFECT road trip music. Seriously, so classic.
I grew up listening to her because of my older sisters. There is something so relaxing and therapeutic and perfect about her lyrics, music and voice (despite it's odd masculinity).

3. I have a lot of good music on my iPod. I mean, not to toot my own horn or anything. 6,000 songs: it's bound to be pretty good, right?

P.S. 95 degrees in Provo today.
Sunshine>Homework.

Oh, and this song...Gets me every time. 90's classic.
Plus, it reminds of me You've Got Mail. How can you not love that?

yea...music is life.

Memorial Day Getaway

I had this dream of flying to Switzerland and staying in a cottage in the mountains for Memorial Day Weekend. Ha. I laugh out loud as I type that. In my dreams. When I marry rich, people. When I marry rich.
I had been having a rough couple of weeks so I decided what I needed, more than anything, was my family.
So I ventured North for HOME.
Yes, I drove 12 hours (okay, well I made it in 11. Shhh it's fine).
Oh, Portland, Oregon!

I forgot how slow people drive there.

I forgot how therapeutic long road trips alone are (I know, I'm crazy). Listening to music, Dr. Pepper in hand, watching the sunset--it's so calming and healing.

I forgot how beautiful and green and luscious Oregon is.
I forgot how much I love sleeping in my own bed.
I forgot how obsessed with Monopoly Deal my family is. When people ask what I did this weekend? My response: Oh, we played Monopoly Deal every single night. We are so cool.
I forgot how much I love my family. They just get me. Ya know?

I forgot how much I want to steal Brizzy as my own child.

I forgot how much I laugh with my siblings.
Rose Festival Carnival rides in the pouring down rain. I almost threw up.

I forgot how cathartic long, emotional conversations with my parents can be.
I forgot how much I love my friends in Oregon.

I forgot how many people have dogs there. And how incredibly jealous I am of them.
Pyrenees dogs! They were like bears. I want them so bad.
I swear, I want a dog more than anything. Anything.
I forgot how hilarious it is to watch a basketball game in the Ainge home: my dad yelling, my mom commenting and gasping and Landon rolling his eyes. Classic.
Go Celtics!!!

Too perfect.
I forgot how much fun it is to be home.

please ignore the quality of these pictures. Still waiting on that nice camera ;)

There are a couple of hilarious videos of Brizzy talking and dancing from my mini vacation. Go add me on iPhone app: socialcam to see them. I am far too lazy to add them right now.
Have you guys found that app? My goodness, it's awesome!
Sierra Ainge.
Go find me.

This weekend was exactly what I needed.
I needed the rejuvenation and perspective of getting away.
Thank you for your patience, love and understanding my fellow Oregonians. You know who you are.
Now, ask me if I can focus on school.
Hint: the answer is no.
xoxo.

Hot Tamale.

Guys. I'm a hot tamale over on Dusty's blog today.
Go check me out!
Aye-yai-yai! (is that even the correct spelling?)

Oh, and just for your viewing pleasure:

Just a little teaser.
Are you wondering how I got to be so good looking?
Yea, I know.
Be jealous.

Happy Thursday!
I am busy writing a paper. (can ya tell?)
Note to self: don't take summer classes ever again.
xoxo.
