I like to pretend to do photography....

...especially in Nature in the Fall.
Like I stated yesterday, Fall in Utah is what I think Heaven will be like. I cannot stop hiking, driving, and taking pictures of this gorgeous season. I just want to leave these pictures here for you all to enjoy. These are all from multiple days and the many excursions and hikes that I go on (hence the different colors and clouds and skies in many of the pictures). Take a minute and go outside today. Go for a walk outside. Take time to take a deep breath OUTSIDE. Take some photos. It's good for the soul.

Also, I want to give you guys a little precursor to whats on my mind. I am planning on using these pictures that I take of my photography on cards for a little business. I need some feedback. Would you buy these cards?! What is the best online way to sell these? Just through my blog, etsy, etc?

If you follow me on Instagram, then you would know that I absolutely, positively love to hike. I find that I am out in nature hiking as often as possible when the weather is nice. I love living in Utah because 9 months out of the year, I am getting my exercise in beautiful nature. 

Because of my love for nature, I really want to start getting into photography. I take my camera with me on hikes and I find that I love photographing nature. I am so hesitant to start because everyone here is doing photography, but I love it. I love taking pictures of nature and I love taking pictures of people. I want to get into nature and weddings, but I'm not sure if I can muster up the time right now. I like to think that I have a good eye, even though I am not a professional at all. This thought is in the back of my mind. With that being said, this hike up American Fork Canyon is one of my favorite hikes. It is hard, but that's because I am out of shape. It is gorgeous in all times of the year, but especially Fall. 

I love hiking in Fall especially because the colors are truly gorgeous in the mountains this time of year. I seriously cannot get over these colors, the temperature and everything about Fall in Utah. In my mind, Fall in Utah is what heaven will be like. I have been out and about hiking the past month and a half to get out as much as possible before the Winter comes! Without further ado, here are the GORGEOUS photos from this hike.

How We Wore It // Sweater Weather

Fall is HERE, y'all. The trees are blowing their leaves off, the colors have officially changed, and the weather is starting to turn brisk. I love all that encompasses Fall in Utah--the mountains, the gorgeous hikes I get to go on, and the change of colors. I am excited to participate in this month's How We Wore It. This month entails sweaters!!!

Even though it is just starting to get cold here, I am excited to put on sweaters, boots and fall clothes. I took the original photo from Diary of a Debutante and made it a little more dressy. I grabbed my favorite classic black sweater. It is a staple item and I wear it all of the time during the cold months! I styled my sweater with the most comfortable midi skirt ever. Huzzah!

We can CARE!!

I have so many incredibly fond memories of living and teaching in Kenya. My eyes were opened to so many unfathomable experiences and I wouldn't change those times in my life for anything. While there, I learned so many important aspects regarding education. Throughout the world there are students who are looking for support in their education. CARE tells about their story and a way to help those students throughout the world.

 I am excited to share with you the campaign CARE. CARE is a global humanitarian organization that fights poverty by empowering girls and women. I have noticed how imperative an education is with all students. Can I ask you to visit their site above and see the amazing program that they have? 

As a sixth grade teacher, I have noticed the positive impact that the girls in my classroom have. Because of privacy issues, I didn't want to post photos of my students, but I wanted to compare some of my students' responses to these questions to the girls in this fabulous campaign. 






























A girl from the CARE program that really stuck out to me is Moni. Moni (11), a fourth grader has excelled in school for the last few years. Moni usually wakes up each morning at 6 a.m. before going to Maktab, a religious school where she learns Arabic. Afterward, Moni helps her mother with the household chores. Around 11 a.m., she leaves for another school where she plays with her classmates for half an hour just before starting class. “I like my school because my teachers like me, take care of me and always inspire me to study,” she says.

1. Why do you like school? 

 Student in my class: " I like school because Mrs. Charlesworth makes school fun. She is funny and has fun assignments." (Are you kidding?! So sweet!). 

2. What are you going to do to be successful in school? 

Student in my class: "To be successful this year, I need to make sure to listen in class and do my homework." 

3. What is the biggest challenge in your education? 

 Student in my class: "Getting homework done." 

4. How does education inspire you? 

Student in my class: "Education inspires me to get a good job later in life. "
